RADIO ONE SWITCHES TO URBAN ONE

Radio One Inc. is now Urban One Inc. The change, meant to signify the company's growth into television and digital media as well as casino gaming and financial services, was timed to honor the 18th anniversary of its IPO on 5/5/99.

The interactive division becomes iOne Digital and a new division overseeing web and social media content for brands and the radio station properties is titled R1 Digital.

“More than 35 years ago, we proudly began representing black culture by lifting our voices boldly, courageously and unapologetically,” said CEO Alfred C. Liggins III. “Urban One’s mission is to enhance and maintain our position as the largest distributor of urban content in the country.”

Through TV, radio and programming, Urban One reaches 59m households and 22m. The company’s syndicated programming includes the Tom Joyner Morning ShowDL Hughley Show and Ed Lover Show.
