Train Derailment in Carson: No Injuries Reported, Rail Access Temporarily Shut Down

On Monday afternoon, the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to reports of a train derailment in Carson, California. The incident involved Union Pacific, which confirmed that four locomotives and five rail cars derailed near the intersection of Carson Street and Alameda Street around 1 p.m.

Fortunately, Mike Jaixon, a senior communications manager for Union Pacific, reported that there were no injuries or hazardous material releases associated with the derailment. This news has provided some relief to the community and emergency responders.

The Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority issued a statement indicating that the derailment caused damage to rail infrastructure. As a precautionary measure, rail access to the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach along the Alameda Corridor has been temporarily shut down. Crews are currently working to repair the tracks and prepare to return the rail cars and locomotives to their proper positions.

Emergency crews were on-site to assess the damage and ensure the safety of the area. The swift response from local authorities has been crucial in managing the situation and preventing any potential hazards.

While the train derailment in Carson has caused disruptions to rail services, the absence of injuries and hazardous material releases is a positive outcome.
